Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies and Music Series turns 15 – Boulder Jewish News

Upgrades to the full season shown from September 2022 to April 2023

Modern folk band, Distant Cousins, will open the JAAMM season with a concert on September 15

DENVER, Colorado, – The JCC Mizel Art and Culture Center welcomes the 15e season of the Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Films and Music Series (JAMAM). The series, which outgrew its footprint as a season-long festival, is now a full season running from September 2022 to April 2023. The series kicks off with a signature performance by the modern folk band, distant cousins, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. Additional highlight events include Bookstore and Jewish Authors events from October 17 to November 3; MSNBC’s Ari Melber on October 29; Fabulous Fanny Brice on January 19, 2023; Prince Challah on March 5, 2023; JAAMM Comedy Festival on April 19 and 20, 2023; The Photography of Paul Margolis in April 2023; and many others. Tickets are on sale now.

“Through the JAAMM series, we are able to bring a variety of talented speakers, authors, musicians, comedians, artists and more to the Denver community for those who are Jewish and those seeking just something fun to do,” Rich said. The series will include the following highlight events, among others:

Modern folk band Distant Cousins ​​will open the season with a concert on September 15.
  • Opening night happy hour and folk band Distant Cousins September 15 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Atwood Magazine describes Distant Cousins ​​as “…the needle in the haystack of modern folk music – bringing out something old and new through dazzling melodies and hauntingly smooth lyrics. who infuse their music with depth, flavor and a lot of character.”
    • At 5:30 p.m., join the JCC for a special happy hour opening party. Happy hour tickets are $20 and include two drink tickets, pre-show snacks, and a post-show meet and greet with the band.
  • Jewish bookstore and author events from October 17 to November 3, at various times
    • 12 unique author events will be held in tandem with the return of the beloved Jewish Bookstore, presented in association with the Jewish Book Council and Tattered Cover Bookstore. The series includes in-person and virtual author tours, as well as in-person opportunities to browse the stacks, enjoy a cup of coffee, and connect with others in the pop-up bookstore located in the JCC Mizel lobby.
  • MSNBC Ari Melber October 29 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Ari Melber is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, news anchor, writer and lawyer. He anchors The Beat with Ari Melber on MSNBC and serves as the network’s chief legal correspondent, reporting on all platforms including MSNBC, NBC News, The Today Show and NBC Nightly News.
  • Fabulous Fanny Brice January 19, 2023 at 7 p.m.
    • If you’re looking for Broadway-style theatrical laughs and entertainment, Fanny Brice is the one delivering it — well, Fanny Brice via Kimberly Faye Greenberg. Join Fanny Brice as she takes you on an unforgettable nostalgic journey through her life and jaw-droppingly infamous relationships, as she entertains with many of her popular hits and songs inspired by her legacy, Barbra Streisand.
  • Prince Challah March 5, 2023 at 3 p.m.
    • Join Challah Prince, Idan Chabasov, as he leads a Purim-themed challah weaving workshop. Each participant will learn how to intricately braid their own challah bread which they can then take home, bake and enjoy!
  • JAAMM Comedy Festival with The Tight Five: Original Comedy Show April 19, 2023 at 7 p.m.
    • The students in our Tight Five: Stand-up Comedy class show us their acting skills in what promises to be a hilarious evening. Audiences will vote for their favorite comics of the night, and the top three will open for Avi Liberman on April 20! All proceeds from the event benefit our Wolf Theater Academy Scholarship Fund.
  • JAAMM Comedy Festival with Avi Liberman April 20, 2023 at 7 p.m.
    • Avi Liberman’s offbeat style has made him a favorite in comedy clubs from Los Angeles to New York. His style is a combination of life experiences and current issues told through a diverse mix of characters and voices with global expertise.
  • The photography of Paul Margolisfrom April 1 to 30, 2023 with special event on April 26 at 7 p.m.
    • From April 1 to 30, the work of Paul Margolis, documentary and art photographer, will be visible free of charge in the reception room of the JCC Mizel Center for Art and Culture.
    • April 26 at 7:00 p.m. – Margolis will discuss his stunning black and white photographs of Jews, Christians and Muslims in Israel and give a PowerPoint talk on the work.
Ari Melber will be in Denver on October 29 for the JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center’s Jewish Arts, Authors, Films and Music Series.

Season Passes, Author Event Passes and Individual Tickets are on sale now and include:

  • Season Passes include one ticket to each in-person and virtual event (a total of 21 tickets) presented by the JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center. Cost – $269.
  • Author Event Passes include 12 total tickets (in-person and virtual) to be used for all Jewish Bookstore Author Events. Cost – $129.
