World music series in Saugerties starts in August – Daily Freeman

SAUGERTIES, NY – The SoundWaves concert series featuring a wide range of world-class artists and musical genres will take place Thursdays starting August 5 at White Feather Farm on State Route 212.

Featured artists will include Sxip Shirey on August 5, Mandingo Ambassadors on August 19, Martha Redbone on August 26, Stephane Wrembel on September 2 and Miramar on September 23, according to a press release. A harvest festival will also take place on the site on a date yet to be specified.

The lineup will range from gypsy jazz and afropop to Latin boleros and Native American and African American folk, soul and gospel music, the statement said. The music series is a celebration of artistic exploration with the goal of connecting and building community across borders in the Hudson Valley, the statement said.

The SoundWaves concert series will take place on Thursdays in August and September in the 280-year-old Broken Wing Barn, the statement said. The Dutch barn with its original post and beam interior is known for its exceptional acoustics, the statement said.

Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive at 7 p.m. for drinks, stay for shows from 8 p.m. and mingle afterward, according to the announcement.

Participants must present a COVID-19 vaccination card or negative COVID test completed within 72 hours to attend the event without a mask. Otherwise, a mask will be mandatory.

Wine and beer are available for purchase during the event.
