Una Healy and Loah will present the new Saturday night music show on RTÉ

Una Healy and Loah are set to host a new music series launching on RTÉ later this month.

The series, The Heart of Saturday Night, will highlight the best in Irish music for six weeks.

Presenters will showcase new and familiar Irish talent from musical sessions from The Round Room to Mansion House.

Kicking off this Saturday July 24, the show promises to bring together the “crème de la crème” of Irish artists for “rousing musical sessions”, many of whom have not performed on stage since the start of the pandemic..

Expect to hear from the likes of Irish Women in Harmony, Mick Flannery, The Saw Doctors, Soda Blonde, Niamh Regan and Rhiannon Giddens, among others.

The series promises to cater to all musical tastes, with a wide range of genres ranging from pop, folk, rock, classical and traditional.

Speaking ahead of the first show, Una Healy said I was so excited to be asked to co-host The Heart of Saturday Night and to do so alongside the incredibly talented Loah was a joy. We had a great time filming and it’s an experience I’ll never forget. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Singer Loah said: The Heart of Saturday Night is a musical dream come true. Co-presenting with Una was a great pleasure and it was wonderful to hear and chat with all of the amazing musicians on the show. I’m honored to be a part of the show and can’t wait to share our joy with the audience!”

RTÉ also says that each episode over the six weeks will feature segments celebrating national treasures who are no longer with us. There will be tributes and performances honoring Phil Lynott, Dolores O’Riordan, Shay Healy, Ronnie Drew and John Prine.
