The UN announces the Limelight musical series on Thursday at the amphitheater

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The University of New Orleans announces a new addition to its lineup of music series, Limelight Thursday, which takes place in the newly updated campus amphitheater.

Limelight Thursday will be a FREE 4-week outdoor music concert series starting October 27 every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. until November 17. Its main purpose is to raise awareness of the School of Arts’ music program by featuring well-known and popular local artists who feature UNO alumni, faculty, and current students. This concert series will also bring larger-scale entertainment to campus, engaging the student body in a fun, community-style event and providing the Lakefront and Gentilly residential areas with a neighborhood entertainment option similar to Wednesdays at The Square in the CBD. Attendees, in addition to great music, will enjoy food and drink provided by Urban South Beer and a variety of local food trucks.

“Thanks to the strong connections and incredible talent that the School of Arts has fostered, we are able to easily secure contracts with high profile, popular artists who have a wide reach and are outside of our current music lineup for Jazz at the Sandbar and Musical Excursions to bring the amphitheater to life and show our programming. says organizer Caroline Mendez, operations coordinator for the School of the Arts.

Limelight Thursday promises a diverse season, including musical performances by Grammy Award nominees and winners such as: Cha Wa, George Porter Jr. as well as John Papa Gros and Muevelo with the Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and member of the UNO School of Music and Alum Brent Rose.

Admission to UNO School of the Arts events ranges from free to $15 for general admission. All students at any school are free with a student ID, and UN alumni and seniors over 55 are $10. To purchase tickets or reserve a seat, visit or
