The Sharjah Light Festival will feature 10 dazzling light and music shows across the emirate

Sharjah: The Sharjah Trade and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has announced the 11th edition of the Sharjah Festival of Lights, which will take place from February 9 to 20 at 10 venues across the emirate.

With its slogan “Echoes of the Future”, the festival will feature dazzling light and music shows designed to highlight – quite literally – Sharjah’s major landmarks and architectural features.

The colorful festival is the first and only of its kind in the region and has been running for ten years. It attracts thousands of visitors to various places in Sharjah every year. The designs are inspired by local culture, stories and traditions.

The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the authority on Wednesday evening at Al Hamriya Municipality in Sharjah, attended by Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA and a number of officials, department directors and employees of government institutions in the emirate. from Sharjah.

The Sharjah Light Festival takes place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and is an initiative of the emirate’s tourism sector to attract visitors. The Sharjah Lights Festival will feature 10 dazzling light shows at various locations across the emirate. Venues for this year’s festival include: Al Majaz Waterfront, University Town Hall, Holy Quran Academy, Sharjah Mosque and Al Noor Mosque, Hamriyah Municipality, Department of Urban Planning and Surveying (Kalba) and Human Resources Directorate of Kalba, The Rashid bin Ahmed Al Qassimi Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn and the Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan. In addition, the University Town area will host a Food Truck Zone, located across from the University Town Hall.

This year’s edition of the festival’s food truck zone hosts over 30 outlets and is expected to see participation from a number of local businesses and families. The light shows are inspired by the traditional heritage of the Emirate of Sharjah and highlight scenes that reflect the stages of prosperity and development of the emirate in various fields including education, arts, communication, environment, history, science and knowledge, and the ambitious visions of the future that are planned for the next fifty years.

Festival performances also shed light on the concept of art in the world and its place in the future, as well as the role of culture and knowledge in overcoming the difficulties and challenges facing nations. The festival features Islamic geometry, decorations, calligraphy and arabesque inscription patterns, in addition to celebrating the ancient Islamic heritage that characterizes most of Sharjah’s architectural buildings and buildings.

Daily light shows will take place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Organizers say the last edition attracted over 1,250,000 visitors and this year more people are expected to enjoy Sharjah’s unique cultural and architectural heritage.

Parking will be available for visitors in cooperation with Sharjah Police, Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority and Sharjah Municipality
