Fortune Favors Music Series captures the best sounds of Aotearoa

The Performance Arcade is a beloved free, award-winning summer festival that celebrates artists, live art, music and performance, delighting audiences with contemporary art and performances on the waterfront – outside the constraints of gallery or theater spaces.

Amid COVID Red Level restrictions, The Performance Arcade is proceeding with all possible care, becoming one of the few small-scale outdoor events capable of taking place under the red.

Fortune Favors music series director Reuben Topzand is proud to celebrate the work of over 100 local artists, saying; “This year’s musical series truly showcases some of the best from the Pōneke music scene, with an extremely diverse lineup of music, dance and drag.”

“This year features some exciting collaborations and firsts for the Arcade. These include local collectives such as Femme n Bass, who curated a lineup of female, non-binary DJs, Pōneke Classical, who will bring us a series of classical performances, and MAWSA, which will host a select afternoon among music students at Massey University. Each of these collaborations has helped to broaden the communities involved in the event, while bringing a unique and diverse lineup artists on stage, helping to make this year’s program so dynamic and engaging!

The Arcade is fortunate to be working with the beer enthusiasts of Fortune Favours, who have joined us as our music series sponsor and will host our pop-up bar experience. It’s a perfect match, with Fortune’s manifesto; “We celebrate those like us and seek to leave their mark on the world. The Kiwis who create the extraordinary. Types “I’ll try”, “Go hard”, “Go all in”. You know who you are.”

Our artists come from all over Aotearoa and include crowd favorites such as KITA, Miles Calder, Sheeps, Alba Rose, Chica La Cumbia, Will McClean & The Zooks, Wiri Donna, Louis TM, SMP Ensemble and many more.
