Music series

The musical series offers free entertainment on Third Street

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Third Street in Marquette will once again see live music every Thursday.

“Music on Third” is a free series featuring musicians along Third Street in Marquette every third Thursday and it’s back this week.

Yooptone Music co-owner Jeff Krebs says he’s looking forward to the event’s return.

“It’s great, it attracts a lot of people who just enjoy the music. It looks like it’s going to be a great day and it really shows our music community,” Krebs said. “All the great musicians we all have are having fun and entertaining people.”

Last year’s series was limited programming, but this year will be back to a full series.

Taralaase Mckinney, Events and Promotions Manager for Marquette Town Center Development Authority, says the series shows just how supportive Marquette is.

“Marquette has tons of really good musicians, so we’re really happy to be able to support them, we’re able to pay them a bit, which we’re really happy about as well,” Mckinney said. “It really helps bring in quality musicians.”

C Beulah B Jewelry Goldsmith Christy Beulahbudnick says music attracts more than Marquette residents.

“We receive people who come from many cities and who come to listen to music in third. We get quite a lot of people, especially that night,” Beulahbudnick said.

Jim’s Music chief executive Joshua Carlson now says music for the third summer has officially begun.

“Hopefully we can get some sunshine and people can get out and walk on Third Street and see the little businesses that they wouldn’t normally stop at, and drive by, walk out and grab a bite to eat and see what we have,” Carlson said.

Music on the Third runs until the third Thursday in September and if you plan to attend, be sure to arrive early so you can find a spot to park and listen to your favorite tunes.
