The musical series Live on the Lake returns to the Parc de l’Est de Charlevoix

CHARLEVOIX — Live music will once again fill Charlevoix’s shores with the full return of its Live on the Lake concert series in East Park.

The series is in full swing this year after the pandemic canceled all but one show last year and musicians, locals and event planners are ecstatic for its return.

“I can’t wait for people to get out and enjoy our beautiful city and park again,” said Lindsey Dotson, General Manager of Charlevoix Main Street/Downtown Development Authority.

“All the acts we have this year are family friendly and we’ll try to make it even more fun with garden games and activities for people of all ages,” she said.

This year’s lineup includes local, regional and national bands that span a wide range of genres.

The series kicks off Thursday, July 1 with jazz band Tracy Cash and continues with bands every Thursday in East Park, except Thursday, July 22 (which falls during the Venetian Festival).

Local rock band, Distant Stars, will wrap up the series in August and look forward to performing to local audiences again.

“We’re so honored to close the series. It’s such an awesome place to play,” said band member Jakey Thomas.

“I had massive crowds years ago with my old Motown-disco cover band, The Cookies, so I was a little nervous to release my bolder new band, but we performed on the show in 2018 and had such a great response from the crowd and are grateful to the fans and the people who care about them,” he said.

Other artists included in this year’s lineup include reggae band Hurricane, folk-rock band Charlie Millard, blues band Dags Und Timmah, folk-pop artist Matt Gabriel, country band The Enemy Line and rock band Brett Newski.

“All of the acts we scheduled last year are coming back this year and we’re thrilled they can finally perform for us,” Dotson said.

“Every night will be top notch and something everyone can enjoy,” she said.

Each performance begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.

This year, the series is also partnering with to help defray costs as well as partnering with other local businesses on publicity and prize baskets and other prizes that will be awarded to members of the crowd.

“All I will say is that there will be a unique reason to come to each show because there will be some sort of activity or giveaway each night to make it even more fun and engaging,” Dotson said. .
