The series funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media will run over 9 weeks with 22 artists.
Shanley’s Bar in Clonakilty is set to launch a live concert series, “The Shanley Sessions”, this Sunday, October 31st.
The concerts will take place every Sunday at 8 p.m. and are available on Vimeo. “The Shanley Sessions” will run for 9 weeks and will include interviews and live performances from the venue.
In total, 22 artists linked to the bar or the city will perform in this mythical place. Diarmuid Cahill, Eleanor McEvoy, Niamh Kavanagh, Fiona Kennedy, Johnny McEvoy and many more will perform during the series.
Renowned musician and producer Bill Shanley – the owner of Shanley’s Bar – said he was eager to participate:
“It has been an exciting project to get involved in. Shanley’s has always been a house of live music, producing these shows to share our music in a new way has led to some great collaborations on the series and allows people to experience some of the magic of the place, ”said Shanley who will also perform with his group as part of the series.
Shanley’s has a rich musical history, as local artists and international stars have performed there for the past 40 years. The pub has played a “key role in Clonakilty’s thriving music scene since the late 1970s”.
“The Shanley Session” was funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, the Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media as part of the Live Performance Support Program. More information on the series is available at Shanley’s Facebook page.
