Sam Levinson, creator of the hit Zendaya series Euphoriahas a new HBO series coming, which promises to dive deep into the seedy underbelly of the music industry. The idol, which stars Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, just released a second teaser, with the tagline “from the gutters of Hollywood,” and showing off lots of skin and partying; all with a gritty, sinister undertone. The teaser premiered at The Weeknd show in Las Vegas on Sunday, but is now available for everyone.

According Deadline, the series follows a young pop singer named Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) who begins dating a Los Angeles nightclub owner named Tedros (The Weeknd), unaware that he is also the leader of a secret cult. , with few other show details available. The premise seems to have been inspired by the real history of the NXIVM Sex Cultled by con artist Keith Raniere and Smallville star Allison Mack, and targeted young Hollywood actresses. The first season is expected to have six episodes and no premiere date has yet been announced. The series was co-created by Levinson, Tesfaye and Reza Fahim. Joe Epstein will act as showrunner and screenwriter for the series. Mary Laws, who also writes for the HBO hit Successionwill also write and executive produce.

This is actually the second teaser for the series, which has undergone significant reshoots and recast since director Amy Seimetz left the show in April due to creative differences. Interestingly, these changes may mean that some actors could have their work cut from later episodes altogether, including Debby Ryan, Elizabeth Berkeley and the late Anne Heche, who died on August 11 after a car accident. Although they are still listed among the cast members of the show’s IMDB list, appearing in all episodes, they are both absent from the cast list that HBO is now distributing with the teaser, and the network has not not comment on their status. In addition to Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd, among the actors announced by HBO (and appearing in the teaser), Suzanna Son (red rocket), singer Troye Sivan (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), singer Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, director Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds), Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey and Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, Godzilla). No character names (apart from the leads) have been released, and the teasers only give us a little Euphoria ambiance but no additional plot points. The first teaser for the series was released at the end of July.

The 23-year-old daughter of actor Johnny Depp and French actress Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Depp has been starring ever since she had a small role in the 2014 horror film Defense, directed by Kevin Smith. She was co-responsible for another Smith film, in 2016 Yoga pants, and her career seemed to take off from there. Roles in The king, Travelersand silent night followed. After finishing work on The Idol, Depp is set to star in Joe Talbot Housekeepers and Moose jawsa horror parody of Kevin Smith.
