What started as an outlet for San Antonio musicians hard hit by the pandemic has turned into an ongoing music series that has given away thousands of dollars to local artists.
Continuing its music showcase launched during the COVID crisis, Cherrity Bar has unveiled the July lineup for its summer concert series, featuring country act Band of Bandits, jazz fusion band Xenobia, cumbia band Volcán y Grupo Frackaso and more.
The summer iteration of the intimate outdoor series will kick off this Saturday with singer-songwriter Brandon Padier and run through the end of August. In keeping with the restaurant’s mission to give back to the community, performers keep 100% of ticket receipts the night they perform.
The venue sold out all of the shows in its spring concert series, which kicked off April 1, funneling a total of $6,000 to San Antonio musicians.
Tickets for the summer edition are available in pairs and sets of four, priced at $30 and $60, respectively. July dates include a limited number of general admission tickets at $10 per person.
“We’ve had a lot of guests ask when we’ll be offering GA tickets,” Libby Day, reservations manager at Cherrity Bar, said in a statement. “Until now, we were wary of the potential health and customer experience risks, but the team is ready to give GA broadcasts a try.”
Spectators who purchase seats will receive tableside food and beverage service from Cherrity and the adjoining Kuriya Restaurant. GA tickets are standing room only and do not include food service. These customers can however buy drinks at the bar.
The shows take place from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets and more information are available at the bar website.
