New musical series debuts in Belfast

BELFAST – Summers in the Midcoast are filled with community-focused live music festivals, but the good times don’t have to end with the changing seasons. That’s the aim of The Underground Lounge, a new space in Belfast that promises to bring intimate entertainment to the area throughout the autumn and winter. Reimagining the basement of the Belfast Maskers Theater at 17 Court St., The Underground Lounge offers an intimate cafe vibe with a combination of row and cabaret seating (plus a few sofas) and a kitchen serving drinks and homemade treats. Cozy up with a hot drink on Thursday evening and listen to local indie, folk and pop artists.

The fun begins Thursday, October 27 with Peter Gallway & The Real Band, who deftly blend jazz, folk and rock with a funky cadence. Gallway is a seasoned writer, performer and producer who has released nearly 30 albums and produced 50, including artists Cliff Eberhardt and Aztec Two-Step. Backing will be The Real Band, consisting of percussionist Andrea Re, guitarist Mark Wainer, drummer Joseph Wainer and keyboardist Michael McInnis. The group recently released “It’s Deliberate”, which was WERU’s top album of the week earlier this month.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, cash only at the door. For more information about The Underground Lounge, email Mo Lotman at [email protected] or call 207-338-1008.
