New live music series focused on 2SLGBTQ+ artists is coming to Victoria

Queer art deserves to be seen, heard and celebrated in Victoria.

A new live music series called QUSIC will spotlight the many local 2SLGBTQ+ artists in and around Victoria.

QUSIC Victoria is undertaken by Rebellious Unicorn, an Okanagan-based 2SLGTBQ+ production and event company.

All artists participating in the new music series must identify under the 2LGBT2Q+ spectrum. QUSIC celebrates 2LGBTQ2+ artists and their community, which includes local artists who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirited as well as a range of other gender and sexual identities.

QUSIC aims to support the growth and development of the Canadian music industry by showcasing artists who identify as 2LGBT2Q+ and help put money in their pockets so they can continue to create their own. art.

“We are thrilled to finally be able to bring QUSIC back to Victoria,” said Dustyn

Baulkham, executive producer of QUSIC.

“With the help of CreativeBC, we were able to bring back a platform for 2SLGBTQ+ musicians to showcase their talent.”

Their first show in this new musical initiative will be held on Wednesday at Friends Of Dorothy

October 12 and will feature Matthew President headlining with locals Karen Donna and Hoelune Rose as supporting acts.

This show will be the first of many QUSIC 2LGBT2Q+ shows coming to Victoria.

Details of the next QUSIC show in Victoria have yet to be announced, but Baulkham told Victoria Buzz that Victorians can expect another in early December and are hoping for another show in early December. the new Year.
