According to Obi: “The show was born out of conversations with collaborators over the years and the need to document the journey of our music, celebrate those who made it and share their stories. It’s amazing that people will watch this brilliant work as it educates, empowers and allows more people to engage with the industry and see the breadth, reach and power of our music. Hope the impact is wider than the music industry because our music also affects fashion, dance, lifestyle, movies and entertainment.
Speaking on the Showmax Head of Content documentary, Candice Fangueiro, commented, “The growth of Afrobeats cannot be overstated and we feel privileged as a platform to showcase and tell the story behind its evolution.”
