Mile High Music Series gives back to the community through music

After a long year of musicians finding themselves isolated from live streams and virtual gigs, Mile High Music Series brings local Colorado artists back into the limelight with a series of community-focused concerts, Concerts for a cause. The series takes place at Mile High Station, an open space industrial events center on West Colfax where attendees can enjoy the crisp summer air while listening to music. Tickets for the outdoor event are $35, with $5 going directly to the nonprofit partner of the week. Some of the organizations that will be recognized include Colorado Event Alliance, The Morgan Adams Foundation, Swallow Hill and Bring music back to life. Not only will you get the chance to have a blast again, but a free drink, reserved seating, and table service are also included in your ticket price.

As we entered summer last year and saw the devastation happening to our event industry, non-profit funding and the livelihoods of local artists, we wanted to find a way to help our entire community, said Director of Sales and Marketing Stephanie Helzer. “As a team, we sat down and tried to create something that gave back and was in a safe, physically distant atmosphere. Our main goal is to help locals, be it non-profit organizations, artists or our staff. »

Good music and a good cause aren’t the only things attendees will enjoy at the event. Scratch Kitchen Catering, a local comfort food restaurant, will provide food and refreshments. Appetizing aromas, delicious dishes and a rapidly changing menu will add to the unique experience of the event as guests enjoy an array of food and music. Mile High Music Series also considered the community when selecting its artists. With genres ranging from gospel to country and indie to drag, there’s a show for everyone.

Although COVID is quickly coming to an end, strict protocols are still in place to make the event comfortable and fun for guests. To do this, event creators encourage guests to wear masks outside and keep groups seated at least six feet apart. Hand sanitizing stations will also be placed throughout the event and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned hourly. Additionally, masked servers will serve tables to reduce foot traffic and maintain social distancing.

According to BBC Newslive music revenues fell by approximately 85% in 2020 due to the effective shutdown of concerts and festivals. To make matters worse, reports have also predicted that musicians could lose 65% of their income this year, with an even higher percentage for those most dependent on live performance and studio work. Although it has been a difficult year for artists, mColorado music lovers can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that organizations like Mile High Music Series are doing everything they can to support the local music community and turn those numbers around.
