Loah and Una Healy will host a new Saturday night music show on RTÉ

“The Heart of Saturday Night” will be a six-episode series, which will begin on Saturday July 24 on RTÉ One.

Presenters and artists Una Healy and Loah will welcome viewers to enjoy the company of some of the Ireland’s best performers on RTÉ One’s new show.

Saturday night heart will run for six weeks from July 24, promising rousing musical sessions and featuring many artists who have not performed on stage since the pandemic began.

Irish Women in Harmony, Mick Flannery, The Saw Doctors, Soda Blonde, Niamh Regan, Rhiannon Giddens and more will entertain viewers from the beautiful surroundings of The Round Room at the Mansion House.

Each week will also feature a tribute segment to remember and celebrate the artists who are no longer with us, including performances honoring Phil Lynott, Dolores O’Riordan, Shay Healy, Ronnie Drew and John Prine.

“I was so excited to be asked to co-host The Heart of Saturday Night and to do so alongside the incredibly talented Loah was a joy,” said Una Healy.

“We had a great time filming and it’s an experience I’ll never forget. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

For Loah, being part of this show has been an honor. “Saturday night heart is a musical dream come true. Co-presenting with Una was a great pleasure and it was wonderful to hear and chat with all of the amazing musicians on the show.”

The two presenters will also duet with a musical guest. Una Healy will sing with Derek Ryan and Loah will sing with Gavin James in special and unique performances.

The series will include notable contributions from people like Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh d’Altan with her family, and sisters Louise and Michelle Mulcahy and Dónal Lunny in remembrance of famous flute player Liam O’Flynn.

John McHugh, Head of Entertainment at RTÉ, said: “RTÉ and South Wind Blows are delighted to bring this feast of music to viewers on Saturday evening for what promises to be a truly entertaining series brought to you by Una and Loah.

“After what has been a very difficult time for musicians and teams in the Irish music industry, it will be wonderful to see some of Ireland’s greatest performers back on stage.”

Saturday night heart will be broadcast on RTÉ One from Saturday July 24 at 9.30 p.m.
