The film will hit theaters this fall
Lionsgate announced the contemporary Christian music documentary (CCM), The music of Jesus, hits theaters this fall. With moving songs of faith, love and hope, the music of Jesus grew out of the American counterculture movement of the 1960s to become a global phenomenon. This compelling documentary reveals the exhilarating and untold history of music – from its humble beginnings at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif., To its transformation into the multi-billion dollar CCM industry today.
Directed by the Erwin brothers (I Still Believe, The American Outsider: The Kurt Warner Story), the film is the definitive love letter to CCM fans that features intimate interviews with the genre’s biggest stars, including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, TobyMac, Kirk Franklin, and Lauren Daigle. With stories of hardships and triumphs, the universal power of these artists’ music shines through in their messages of passion, sacrifice and redemption that inspire millions of dedicated listeners.
The Music of Jesus – The Soundtrack of a Movement will accompany the film. The soundtrack will feature Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, TobyMac, Michael Tait, dc Talk, Kirk Franklin, Chris Tomlin, John L. Cooper, CeCe Winans, Steven Curtis Chapman, Lauren Daigle, for KING & COUNTRY and more .
The film’s release date is October 1 with the soundtrack expected at the same time.
