Levitt AMP 2022 Utica Music Series is back

Levitt AMP 2022 in Utica, NY has announced the lineup for the summer music series. Artists will perform at Kopernik Park this summer. The concerts will take place on Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from June 20 to August 29.

The 2022 season will feature headlining artists from New Orleans, Nashville, Chicago, Iowa, Virginia, Rhode Island, Canada and New York State. The concerts also feature local and regional opening acts and youth intermission acts.

The series attracts the city’s most diverse audience in a family-friendly, non-alcoholic, happy and welcoming environment. The musical series also contributes to Utica’s economy and fosters community bonds.

2022 Levitt AMP Range

June 20- The new respects

The New Respects have been named the Levitt Foundation’s National Touring Band for 2022. They’re a mix of pop, soul and rock and deliver high-energy, funky music. Through their music, you hear their inspirations like the Rolling Stones and Lenny Kravitz.

June 27- Roberta Lea

Roberta Lea is an up-and-coming artist, described as having “a voice like cinnamon and a pen-like butter”. She plays a mix of classic country, country soul, country rock and country pop, and has no limits to expressing herself through her songs.

11 July- B2wins

Walter and Wagner Caldas, are 31-year-old identical twins better known as the Brazilian 2wins or “B2wins”. Their instrumental music ranges from pop to hip hop and reinvented iconic classics. Each song is dripping with originality and youthful exuberance. Their mission is to make the world smile after growing up very poor in Rio de Janeiro.

July 18- Argonaut & Wasp

Argonaut & Wasp are a mix of indie, alternative, edge and funk grooves described as the perfect NYC soundtrack. They formed out of a love of house/dance music and bring 70s fashion, 80s synths and 90s culture to their band.

July 25- Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble

Curley Taylor and his band, Zydeco Trouble, use soul and blues vocals with zydeco beats to create their unique musical style. Curley began his musical career at age 16 playing drums in his father’s band, and since then he has always had a passion for music.

August 1 – Bassel and the supernatural

Bassel & the Supernaturals tells the story of Bassel Almadani’s experience as a first-generation Syrian-American using funk-inspired beats, soulful melodies and lyrics about love, loss and war in Syria. They have performed at major festivals, performance venues, and more, while working closely with organizations on events and residencies that build awareness and empathy for Syrian refugees.

August 8- The Big Takeover Group

The Big Takeover Band is a seven-piece band from New York that plays original music rooted in the genres of Jamaican pop, reggae, rocksteady and ska. They also cross genre boundaries and mix traditions. They connect the Motown spirit and the sophistication of the 21st century retro soul scene.

August 15th- Miranda writes

New York hip-hop artist Miranda Writes is known for her modern sound with strong lyrics and diverse beats. She’s not signed to a major label, however, her 2018 single “Too Blessed” peaked at No. 5 on the Digital DJ Pool chart alongside Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj and Ciara. She is the first biracial hip-hop artist to break into the snowboard market.

August 22- Ariel Posen

Ariel Posen is “one of the most exciting guitarists around” with jaw-dropping extended solos. His influences are electrified Americana, R&B, Beatles-inspired pop, and rock and roll. He spent his childhood on the road with his musician parents and found himself doing his own gigs traveling the world.

August 29- Hey Shawnee

Shawnee Taveras is a Dominican-American singer-songwriter who brings warmth to the stage with energetic salsa backing by a band creating music that’s impossible not to dance to. In 2019, Taveras was awarded the Premio Conga de la Salsa in the Dominican Republic for Best New Musical Act. She had top ten singles in the Dominican Republic and toured that country extensively.

The 2022 Levitt AMP Summer Concert Series is free to all who attend and runs from June 20 through August 29.
