Kennedy launches a series of live music on the terrace

There’s nothing like playing music in your hometown, even for a songwriter who’s traveled the world, playing in 89 countries.

On Thursday, September 1, Kennedy launches a new weekly series of live performances, titled Beat on the Patio.
Shows are produced by Visit North Platte from 5:30-6:30 p.m. every Thursday in September on the Visitor’s Office Terrace, which is on the east side of Jeffers/US Highway 83 between I-80 and South Flat. River. The series features artists from the North Platte region.

Kevin Kennedy III has performed extensively in his hometown of North Platte this summer – at Pals, Cedar Room, Family Night during Nebraskaland Days and the Prairie Arts Center, to name a few.

Music has been one of Kennedy’s interests since his parents bought him a guitar when he was 11 years old.

He graduated from North Platte High in 2004 and attended the College of William & Mary in Virginia. After college, Kennedy moved to Washington, DC to work in politics. He wanted to work in external relations to help people. While vacationing in Colombia, he fell in love with the people and eventually decided he could serve better living among them.

“I didn’t want to be at a desk writing stuff. I want to know who these people are and change what people think about America,” he told the Newsletter.

He pushed that desire to the limit, traveling the world to make music. In Colombia, Kennedy founded a clothing company called Buena Onda, which translates to good vibe in English. Buena Onda sells clothes, bags, bracelets, dog collars and guitar straps made from colorful fabrics woven by the indigenous Wayuu people.

Like her engaging personality, her music is all about the good vibes. In fact, his latest album is called “Good Mood”.

Each patio show will feature a different set of artists from the North Platte area in a free concert. Bring a lawn chair and a snack if you wish.

Eagle Radio will broadcast live remotes from the event, and the station will professionally record two of the artist’s original songs and play them on the air.

Kennedy’s music can be found under Kevin Kennedy iii on You Tube, and on his website,

The Platinum Pearls will next play in the series on Thursday, September 8. All shows are from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge.
