K-pop girl group Dreamcatcher lands first music show win since debuting in 2017

K-pop girl group Dreamcatcher earned their first music show win this week on “Show Champion” for their new comeback track “House.”

The victory was very special for Dreamcatcher fans, called “InSomnia,” which has waited 1,924 days so far since the group’s debut in 2017.

Not uncommon with music show wins, the band members were all in tears when leader JiU took the mic to deliver his victory speech. The band later took to their official Twitter to share their thanks.

Wow…!! 1st place! Everyone in the world, we are 1st on #ShowChampion! I couldn’t express everything because I was crying, but thank you very much. This is just the beginning, so keep supporting us. I love you!”

Other music show award contenders included Big Bang for “Still Life”, DKZ (formerly Dongkiz) for “Cupid”, Ive for “Love Dive” and Onew from Shinee for “Dice”.

“Maison”, taken from their latest album “Apocalypse: Save Us,” discusses the importance of fighting climate change and saving the environment. The album also helped the supernatural-themed rock, punk and pop-inspired band become the fifth K-pop girl group in history to hit #1 on iTunes Top Albums chart in the USa feat shared with red velvetTwice, Blackpink and Loona.

Less than a day after its release, the album went to No. 1 in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Peru, Sweden , Spain and Vietnam.

Following the group’s win on the music show, the #Dreamcatcher1stWin hashtag received over 200,000 tweets.

A fan @DeukaeIndia pointed out that “House” could be an anagram of Somnia, “It was meant to be, Somnia, it was written in the cards!” they wrote on Twitter.

another fan, @minjiubinnie, went out to eat Korean with friends to celebrate the milestone.

User @onlybboya calculated that it took 1,924 days from the group’s debut to finally win.

This calculation would mean that the group is now the girl group with the longest time between their debut and an ultimate win on a music show, a record previously held by now disbanded group CLC at 1,427 days between their 2015 debut and their victory for the song. “Me” in 2019.

Congratulations, Dreamcatcher and InSomnia. Continue to “Fly High”.
