(FLEMINGTON, NJ) – Flemington DIY presents the Jazz on the lawn outdoor concert series with concerts on three consecutive Fridays from September 17 to October 1. All shows are free entry and take place at The Lawn on Stagl (next to Stangl Factory) at 50 Stangl Road. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. Just bring a lawn chair and enjoy the show.

September 17: Behn Gillece Trio (Behn Gillece -vibraphone, Bob DeVos – guitar, Steve LaSpina – bass) – With over a decade on the New York jazz scene, vibraphonist Behn Gilles has built a reputation as a virtuoso instrumentalist and prolific composer. Drawing inspiration from legends such as Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson, Gillece, throughout his career, was committed to advancing the artistic form of the vibraphone while also thriving as a jazz composer. A native of New Jersey, Gillece had numerous performance opportunities in his home state, as well as in Philadelphia, before moving to New York in 2006. Since then, he has made a name for himself as a sought-after sideman. , as well as a conductor and recording artist.

September 24: Peter Lin Quartet (Peter Lin – trombone, Charlie Sigler – guitar, Kenny Davis – bass, Jerome Jennings – drums)Pierre Lin is a New Jersey / New York-based Taiwanese-American trombonist, producer, and educator. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and raised in northern New Jersey, Peter played violin and piano before taking up the trombone at the age of 10. His love of music continued, motivating him to pursue jazz studies in the prestigious music programs of William Paterson University (undergraduate) and Rutgers University (diploma). Since then he has become an integral part of the music scene, performing and sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Slide Hampton, Winard Harper, Charli Persip, Valerie Ponomarev, JD Allen and Radam Schwartz. He has also spent considerable time studying with his influences, including trombone masters Slide Hampton, Steve Turre, Conrad Herwig, Robin Eubanks, Steve Davis, and Frank Lacy. He continues to perform prolifically as a leader and sideman in established venues such as Blue Note, Dizzy’s, Birdland, Smalls, Fat Cat, Zinc Bar and Candlelight Lounge.

October 1: Skip & Dan Wilkins Quartet (Skip Wilkins – piano, Dan Wilkins – saxophone, Tony Marino – bass, Bill Goodwin – drums)Skip Wilkins is an American jazz pianist who divides his time between eastern Pennsylvania and central Europe. In the United States, he made his home in the Delaware Water Gap, living at the famous Deer Head Inn jazz club. In his adopted hometown, Skip is a regular attendee at the club and the annual COTA Arts Festival.

In May 2014, DIY Flemington was founded by a local group of young artists and musicians. With the help of the Flemington Business Improvement Office, they found temporary accommodation in the 90 Main Building owned by the borough, once a bank, but vacant for years. “The Space,” as it has become to some, immediately began hosting art exhibitions, concerts and film screenings. Since then, Flemington DIY has grown into a thriving center of community life for all ages, drawing on the generosity of donations, grants and the Borough of Flemington.
