Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl has announced a new show she will host on BBC Sounds dedicated to her love for the R&B music genre.
The 12-episode show series will see Cheryl perform music from TLC to Beyoncé while recalling stories from her youth as she developed her love for music.
Her new BBC Sounds show is called “You, Me and R&B with Cheryl” and is out today – Cheryl shared a link to the first episode on her Twitter.
Cheryl tweeted her announcement, she posted: “I’ve always had an absolute love and passion for R&B and I’m so excited to share my new show with you on @BBCSounds.
“I was absolutely blown away listening to all of these songs again and I am delighted that you are reliving those moments with me. Episode 1 is live now.”
Throughout the series of shows, Cheryl will go back to the roots of her love for R&B by sharing honest and revealing information about her childhood and the songs she attaches to her memories.
She said: “I have always had an absolute love and passion for R&B, so I hope listeners are also blown away and absorbed by their own nostalgia.
“Music can really heal when you are going through something painful or happy, by revisiting those times when you can take back your power I have discovered myself along the way.”
The former Girls Aloud star had recently taken a step back from the spotlight on a calmer life with her son Bear.
The 38-year-old shares her son Bear with her ex Liam Payne of One Direction.
After a busy few years as a chart-topping solo artist, X-Factor and The Greatest Dancer judge as well as guest appearances, such as in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series, Cheryl focused on her son and spent time away from the spotlight. .
After Cheryl appeared on Comic Relief earlier this year, her first appearance in some time, radio stations have been desperate to sign the star up for her own show on their station.
The star has slowly returned to the limelight, sending her fans wild after sharing glamorous selfies and a whole new look.
She recently shared a stunning photo of herself after being given a makeover, flaunting rosy makeup and curly hair that bounced around her shoulders.
Cheryl drove her fans crazy with the stunning display, signaling her return to showbiz.
