BMG announces musical documentary about Marc Bolan and T Rex

The film makes its world premiere in Tribeca

BMG announced Angelheaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, a film that chronicles the life of Marc Bolan from T. Rex. U2, Elton John, David Bowie, Ringo Starr, Nick Cave, Joan Jett and acclaimed filmmaker Cameron Crowe are part of a star-studded cast ready to pay tribute to Bolan in the feature-length documentary.

The film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. It was financed and produced by BMG, written and directed by Ethan Silverman, produced by Bill Curbishley and Ethan Silverman, and is represented by Submarine Entertainment with Dan Braun serving as executive producer and international sales agent.

Featuring 26 reimagined songs culled from Bolan’s extensive body of work released as T. Rex and Tyrannosaurus Rex from 1968 to 1977, plus fan archives and performance footage, the film stands out as a living document combining a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the new album as the artists explore Bolan’s legacy as one of the most influential yet enigmatic rock stars of all time.
