This summer, Cincinnati will show the true impact women have in the music industry.

RiseUp, a global network working to advance women’s rights, will host a music series in Over-the-Rhine that will launch in September and continue into next year.

With help from Cincinnati Bell and Procter & Gamble, RiseUp will present its “Female Series,” a concert series featuring bands led by female performers. The series will feature RiseUp’s initiativeswhich are “the rights of women, equality, education, sexual and reproductive health and justice, and economic empowerment,” illustrating women who have overcome the male-dominated musical field.

10,000 Maniacs, Wild Child, Nella and The Wailin’ Jennys star in the series. Each band features a female lead vocals, and all bands that perform are decorated with awards ranging from a Latin Grammy Award to a Juno Award to a Platinum-certified album.
